Haha, I have my own stripey polonaise! Of course it's old news, but I'm thinking about spicing it up somehow. I have this interesting blue/salmon yarn that I bought with the idea that it could be made into fly fringe. I wonder if adding it to the pinked trim would improve the dress? I love when others trim out their gowns and I know more is more in the 18th century, but I have a hard time overcoming my austere inclinations.
What do you think? I'd sew it in a sort of serpentine pattern so it's not just a ring in the middle of the pleats.
I also finished my apron of cotton/silk voile! I like it, but not for the ball I think. It's not quite sheer or fancy enough for that.
I hope to have my portrait miniature finished by the ball, but I'm having a hard time coming up with the right ribbon for the necklace. I think I really need quarter-inch silk ribbon to have the right width and drape, but it's hard to find. I bought half-inch and might try to make it work but it's pretty wide, especially when the two pieces don't stay together. Hm, maybe it should be sewn together up nearly the entire length?
