It's taken some doing, but there was a case recently that I have taken it upon myself to preside over. Oh, I had to twist a lot of arms - all this talk of "you can't preside, you're tangentially involved in the case" this and "You're the only person who witnessed the accused at the scene of the crime" that.
Well, I didn't let it stop me. My courtroom is a place of both freedom and creativity - I remember a particular incident where the truth was only reached because the defense was allowed to cross-examine a parrot.
Well, sir, I am no parrot.
When the case goes to trial in a few days, I will still be presiding. I look forward to seeing how the defense handles this one.
