i really love the crispness of your icons, especially in 5 and 9. I love your use of textures, and although i do think sometimes they're taken too far (8 for example), i love to see you experimenting with them.
Thanks so much for your concrit, hon. I tend to get nervous about over or undersharpening my work, so I'm glad you think it's rather balanced, overall. And I certainly love texture work, but I can completely understand why sometimes, my stuff might be too overwhelming for other people. I get insane with textures sometimes. :P
(For the record, I actually just layerd a different part of the Amanda photo over half of her face. It's not even a legit texture!)
I really love your use of black and white, especially in icon 5 (gorgeous cropping on that one too). Some of your icons are a bit busy for my tastes, but that's also just personal preference.
Your work with negative space is great, especially in #2, 9, and 10. I love the brightness of #2 so much! I feel that #5 is lovely but would be a bit more effective if the subject were scaled down and the face had a bit more contrast, so it stands apart from the orange background.
Regarding #4, the background is a little busy, IMO. I feel a more empty space would highlight the subject better.
I really enjoy the coloring in #6, but the crop is a bit strange to me so that the face looks very scrunched. I think if it were shifted over so that you see the rest of Julie Bowen's face, it might be a better crop choice though, of course, it would also definitely be more conventional.
#1 has such a great blend and such great color. I totally enjoy that piece!
Your text work is lovely! You select great fonts and size/place your text wonderfully! The vibrant colors you infuse in your icons, esp. in #2 and #5, are awesome. I think for #3, the subject blends into the background a bit because she's so blue, but the centered crop is a good choice so that there's just enough empty space around the sucject.
#3 was definitely a challenge for me, and I tried to distinguish between the foreground and background by shading the subject lighter, and darkening the background, but I can see how it's still all very... blue, lol!
In general i really like your icons, you work with textures very well, you've got amazing cropping skills, however, i think that sometimes your icons need more light (like #6 and 7, subjects are too dark comparing to backgrouds). But #8 is truly awesome!
The simplicity and cleanliness in your icons is wonderful! I love complex texture work, but some people really know how to work funky crops and coloring, and you're one of them! I think you're great at lighting a subject, especially in pieces like #3, 6, and 9.

The lighting effects in #2-3 are great and really enhance the subjects, and the negative space #2 is amazing!

My only concrit would be to add more contrast to your icons. #4, 5, , 9, 10 can all use more contrast to make them pop.
