Character Name: Ranma Saotome
Character Series: Ranma 1/2
Character Age: 16
Background: The Series | The Horse
Personality: Ranma, above everything else, has complete and utter confidence in his abilities. It doesn't matter what it is, even if it involves something that he's not particularly good at or he finds boring, Ranma has chosen to never say no to a challenge of any kind. He holds a lot of pride in his martial art skills, and is sure that no matter what, he'll always be led to victory. This applies to situations outside of martial arts as well-- he considers himself to be really good looking and holds a lot of pride in his appearance, both as a guy and a girl. When someone calls him ugly or rejects his advances, he'll do whatever he can to change their mind. Despite his strengths, Ranma has lost before. However, his pride renders him incapable of giving up, and all he can think about is defeating the person who beat him. He takes these losses tough as well, planning on doing no matter what to win the next time even if it involves cheating. No matter what, Ranma keeps that tunnel vision and continues to fight on until he wins, no matter what the battle may be or what it involves.

Even though he considers himself to be God's gift to women, he's pretty shy when it comes to anything past talking to them. Shampoo has clung onto him on plenty occasions, both clothed and in the nude, and regardless of the situation he just looks away and tries to push away from her. On that note, he's a bit of a prude as well. In his girl form, he's seen himself naked (or at least his girl form's breasts) numerous times. Yet, the sight of a naked girl's body still causes him to glance away, no matter who's it is. It causes problems for him as well, considering Shampoo has less modesty than most of the other girls.

He's also a magnet for trouble-- or at least, coincidental trouble. Considering the amount of fiancees he has that just fling themselves at him, he finds himself in the middle of conflicts that he'd much rather not be a part of. Ranma is a bit of accidental pervert and lech, finding himself in questionable situations and getting caught either with a girl's arms wrapped around his neck or finding himself in an awkward position; such as when he needed to hit the pressure points on Miss Hinako's body to negate her technique, three of which were on her breast, the other two on the small of her back. He explains himself, but his explanations usually fall upon deaf ears. It gives him the false title of pervert, not that he can do much about it.

As a martial artist, Ranma feels it's also his duty to help the weak and save innocent bystanders from supernatural threats and monsters, even if they never end up being innocent in the end. He also never harbors any ill will towards his opponents after fighting them. Even if his rivals hate him and are annoying, he'll still help them out if they need it. He'll be petty when it comes to fighting against them, but in the end has no problem assisting them. He even considers his biggest rival, Ryoga Hibiki, a friend in certain situations. Ranma is definitely more compassionate than most everyone else he knows, opting to save them and not let them get hurt when he's around. He's particularly shown to be rather protective of Akane at times, saving her from dangerous situations that she's been put into.

Ranma very does blatantly love Akane. Even before he proclaims his love for her at the end of the series, he's protective and gets jealous when someone attempts to take her out. Despite that, he insults her constantly, talking about her thick waist and taking pride in the fact that he's more attractive than she is. However losing her is something he'll never do, as he gets depressed when Akane ends up as a doll in the last story, just stunning him into submission. While all of his fiancées are attractive in their own way, it's been seen that Ranma cares deeply for Akane and it would take something really big to get him to stop.

Abilities: The most well known magical ability of Ranma's is his Jusenkyo Curse. As a result of falling into the Spring of Drowned Girl, when Ranma gets splashed with cold water, he turns into a girl. When Ranma gets splashed with warm water however, he turns back again. The curse has effects on his physical fighting abilities, when he's a man he's stronger and a little slower than he would be as a girl. As a girl however, she's lighter and faster, than yet not as strong as the male counterpart. Also, his girl type turns renders him smaller, meaning the reach that he has as a guy drastically decreases.

As far as fighting techniques, Ranma has plenty of those as well:

Hiryū Shōten Ha (Or the Heavenly Dragon’s Strike): Learned when Ranma was under the effects of the Ultimate Weakness Moxibustion, the attack is used when a fighter is able to suppress his usually hot battle aura and produce a cold aura in the process. At the same time, the fighter's opponent must have a hot emotion of their own, such as hatred, lust, or an intense battle aura. The opponent then must follow the fighter into a perfect spiral, causing the mix of cold and hot air to form between the two. As they get to the center of the spiral, the fighter launches a corkscrew uppercut, sending the currents spiraling into the air and forming a tornado, the size and power of which depending on the intensity of the aura and the ki of whomever was caught in it. While in difficult situations, Ranma has been able to develop variations of the attack as well depending on the situation.

Kachū Tenshin Amaguriken (Or the Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire attack): Learned when Ranma was under the effects of the Full Body Cat's Tongue, which rendered him unable to change back into a male. Using the speed that she has as a female, she can strike numerous times as if she was collecting chestnuts in a roaring fire. Essentially, just accelerated hand movements that can be used to collect an item or punch an enemy numerous times.

Shishi Hokodan/Moko Takabisha (Or the Lion's Roar Blast/Fierce Tiger's Blast): Both are ki blasts, sprouting from the current emotional state of the user. The Shishi Hokodan was created mainly for construction purposes, and was learned by Ryoga Hibiki to successfully defeat Ranma for the first time. Manipulating "heavy ki", or ki sprouting from depression, he's able to form it into a ball and launch it at an opponent. Ranma was able to figure it out after a while, using it back at Ryoga but finding himself unable to compete as Ryoga's depression was much greater than his. As such for their duel, Ranma came up with the Moko Takabisha, which is comprised of ki sprouting from confidence as opposed to depression.
