One of the best compliments ever.

I've been feeling rather "blah" lately since all my plans to get back to the gym have been thwarted so far this semester. Also, my schedule is sort of jam-packed in a way that its really hard for me to eat properly during the week, sometimes I go the enitre day without eating (7am- 7pm) and while some people can do that, I can't. I'm also cutting back on soda which means that I'm less caffeinated than usual. So I'm working more while hungry and undercaffeinated, I'm surprised I haven't taken off anyone's head yet.

To completely change the mood of this post now, I wanted to write about one of the best compliments I've ever recieved. Now, being mixed and having rather.... unique facial features has brought about onslaught of weird in the compliment deptartment over the years. But one of the best compliments came from a place I loooathed- the store I used to work at near the end of my time working there.

I was doing "reshop"- which is basically putting all the crap that people decided they didn't want/ grossly missplaced out of laziness away, and I saw a little girl of about 2-3 in a cart with her mom. So, I did what I always do around babies, grin like and idiot and bounce around and wave until I get them to smile. This girl was a really easy sell, she had already seen me and giggled like mad when I waved at her. I walked off, in a better mood, grateful that children had the power to keep me from turning into a complete and utter misanthrope, and continued shelving things.

Later, I was putting some milk away when I ran into the little girl and her mom again in the dairy section and had to go right next to their cart to put things away. I smiled at the girl again and said hello to which she grinned and replied:
"You're PRETTY!!" in that adorable way small children exclaim things. I smiled and thanked her, but before I could finish she turned to her mom and told her "She's PRETTY, mama! She's pretty!" I kept smiling, but I could feel myself turning red at the inclusion of a adult in our pleasant little exchange. Her mother nodded and agreed, while the little girl continued to tell everyone within earshot that I was pretty. Her mother then added to me "She's been saying that ever since we saw you in the other aisle. She thinks your gorgeous!" I was a beet by this point and could only smile and thank them both and then talk about how sweet her daugther was before just scampering off. I was surprised I did so well...usually I return compliments with blank and confused stares. I guess, it was the fact that it came from a little kid. Small children and kindly, elderly people can get away with doing overly famliar things like hugging me or giving me an odd nickname.

This whole essay is rather uncalled for, but it was a really cute moment. That little girl made my day.
