Just call me DJ Wannabe

Yes, I'm lame I know. Sometimes I seriously believe that if I wasn't teaching planning to make teaching my profession, then I'd be a DJ.

I wish you could major in turntablism in college that way I could have minored in it, or at least taken the intro course.

Of course from a practical perspective, its sort of an impossible hobby to take up considering I have no $$ for equipment and have the uncanny knack of killing anything more complex than a stapler. 90% of all small appliances and electronics that come into my possession tend to pass on quickly in my possession (one reason I won't invest in a ridiculously fancy mp3 despite how much I want one). They tend to get roughed up quickly, much like my books.

What can I say? I love hard.

So why the random bout of DJ-aspirations? I was watching some videos by Happy Slip on Youtube (she's this Filipino-American comic actress that acts out her entire family. Its GREATNESS, and if you're pinoy/pinay you'll laugh extra hard) and I came upon the latest one called "Contaigious" which is a cute little skit featuring a beat that samples Rose Royce's "Wishing on a star" for a hilarious but also auditorily pleasing effect. The beat is SICK (which means "really, really good" for those who don't regularly check Urbandictionary.com) and there was a link to the DJ's podcast in the info for the video. I checked it out. Its greatness. So now I am pimping it out to you.

I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the House Party mix in his newest post. I've been bumping to that all night a great mix of really good music.

I realize this is a very frivolous post. I mean, it was "Super Tuesday" here in the US, you'd think I'd have something smarter to say, but my primary isn't until March and I am pretty set on who I'm voting for so no random politi-post from me yet.

On a random note, I'm in some ridiculously great classes right now. My Shakespeare prof keeps the class in stitches and makes the work alive and made me really enjoy a play I used to well.... sort of loathe (Romeo and Juliet). Also, I'm taking a class on the history of Pirates. Yes, PIRATES . We learned about how insane Blackbeard was today. He would stick candlewicks in his hair and beard and light them on fire when attacking boats to freak out the crew of the other ship.

Its getting late, which means I am actually wired now, after fighting an afternoon of sleepies. But I have classes to go to, the English language to teach, a play to read and two big papers to write. So I suppose I should really try and keep functioning according to norms of the living.

*sighs*

You gotta do what you gotta do.

I think it would sort of hilarious to become a DJ, and use the name "DJ Wannabe". I wonder if that's already taken- though I would hope not. I mean, its funny for me cuz i can laugh at myself and really am not a DJ, but I would hate for an actual aspiring DJ to a name that just invites public mockery.

I just googled it- and there is! He's a blonde boy from GErmany and he's not bad and according to the newest mix on his myspace he "represents the ghetto around the world"

I guess I'll have to find another name. Or just grossly misspell "wannabe" like "Wan-nuh-B" or something. And add a star.

*suddenly de-friended by whole list*
