Duet May 2009 - 愛(I) Love You情 (friendship)
Takaki Yuya x Yabu Kota

I want Takaki to stand on his own feet soon but… his charm is his childishness (laughs). (Yabu)
I can count on Yabu kun anytime during concerts and going overseas! (laughs) (Takaki)

Takaki: I think me and Yabu kun’s common point is that we were born in the same year.

Yabu: That’s it? … Wait, that is it (laughs). We’re like in oxygen and carbon relationship.

Takaki: That metaphor doesn’t make sense at all (laughs). Yabu kun was on TV before I joined the agency. There were so many Yabu kun fans at my school.

Yabu: That reminds me, didn’t you say something like “I met Yabu kun at Kamakura in my middle school year” before?

Takaki: Yeah! I went to Kamakura for field trip and the girls in my class started going crazy that they saw Yabu kukn there. I thought they just mistook someone else but Yabu kun’s school had a field trip at Kamakura on the same day. I didn’t see you but the topic in my class that day was how cool Yabu kun was rather than the Buddha (laughs).

Yabu: That was a near miss. Kind of like a little fate?

Takaki: Definitely. Let’s just say that we were tied together by a string (laughs). That’s why I think I was holding back certain points until JUMP formed because you were still a “senpai” to me even though we’re the same age.

Yabu: You were a cute kid.

Takaki: Haven’t changed, right? ♥

Yabu: Just in your head.

Takaki: Yup, I’m still a kid inside… wait, is that good?

Yabu: It’s all right (laughs). The first time I talked to Takaki was when we went to Hawaii with some Jrs. I thought I didn’t see Takaki moving at all at the airport going there. When I talked to him, he said something like “I’m scared of the plane…”

Takaki: It was my first long distance flight, I was nervous. I miss Hawaii~. We got pulled out to the sea too (laughs).

Yabu: We did! We got out to the sea by renting body boards and we got swept away by the current and couldn’t see the shore anymore. I seriously panicked there.

Takaki: It took us 30 to 40 minutes to get back to the shore.

Yabu: Dai chan only escaped the disaster because he played in the sand since he was “scared of the ocean”.

Takaki: Dai chan went to go shopping with the other guys because we were weren’t back for a long time.

Yabu: And we thought he went out to get us help (laughs). We screamed “help me!” the whole time. That incident was my first time I felt sense of crisis.

Takaki: I was good at swimming but since I was in the coast of Hawaii, I just started laughing passing the level of fear (laughs).

Yabu: When you thought our bond got closer from that, not so much…

Takaki: We all found our “save only yourself” sort of policy (laughs). I’m afraid a new friendship never resulted from Hawaii but we got along pretty well when we had the same room in New York for our musical studies.

Yabu: We went shopping together too. There was a snowstorm so we went and bought ear muffs first.

Takaki: We also went ice skating. We found the ice skate rink from the movie Home Alone and we went there to skate but instead, some guy from there started talking to us. I didn’t know any English so I relied on Yabu kun on everything.

Yabu: I was desperately talking by looking up words!

Takaki: Hawaii too. When we had to rent boards or rent skates, Yabu kun was the spokesperson every time.

Yabu: I only said “Four!” with four fingers up, pointing to whatever we needed to rent (laughs)

Takaki: Doing that makes you dependable. What an oldest member you are!

Yabu: You’re the oldest member too! We’re in the same grade, put some effort into being more mature.

Takaki: That’s too much of a hassle.

Yabu: I bet there are so many people out there who think I’m the oldest by far.

Takaki: True in real life too♪

Yabu: Just two month difference! When the anchor on the TV asks “who’s the oldest?” you tend to ignore it so I have to say “me and Takaki!” but then you make this “oh crap” face (laughs).

Takaki: Do you think I can stand on the top and bring everyone together?

Yabu: Well…. Don’t give me the ‘so-what’ attitude (laughs).

Takaki: I’m amazed how Yabu kun can take actions according to the conditions on TV and/or concerts. You also remember plans that staffs give you five minutes before going on air.

Yabu: I’m actually panicking though. I once said my friends name “Ryuya!” when I was trying to say “Yuya!”live…

Takaki: I replied “what?” like always.

Yabu: But Takaki’s childishness is one of his charms. First of all, his favorite foods are childlike. When there’s an ice cream vending machine in the studio, he run towards it.

Takaki: I love ice cream♥

Yabu: He even asks me “Yabu kun, you want some?” Don’t you usually buy at least two at once?

Takaki: Grape and chocolate mint are essential.

Yabu: Yeah, chocolate mind is good.

Takaki: I don’t think there’s anyone else in the world who hates chocolate mint.

Yabu: I think that’s a little too far (laughs). His love for his friends is another charm. When I see those moments, I think of him as a great guy.

Takaki: Thanks♪Ah, I found a common point between Yabu kun and I! We’re a “laidback duo” in JUMP. Like before concerts, Yabu kun and I would be the only ones left in the dressing room.

Yabu: I sleep until the last minute and Takaki gets ready spending all his time. Then, we go out saying “we should go soon” to each other (laughs). I guess being carefree is our method of unifying our minds so we can’t help it (laughs).

Takaki: Let’s enjoy being carefree on our next tour ♪
