Remembered WhatI Wanted to Ask

May 30, 2011 15:45

In my weekly update, I said that I thought I had something to ask but couldn’t remember what it was. Well, I was just painfully reminded. I’m having some intermittent, but very unpleasant, cervical pain. It feels like the baby is trying to punch her way through my cervix and make her escape. Is this just a sign of her dropping into position for ( Read more... )

It was probably right around 31 or 32 weeks when I had the same thing. It turned into an ache that absolutely KILLED whenever I would move my legs. It still hurts from time to time, but it's subsided for the most part now. (I'm 35 weeks) Babies don't usually drop (according to my midwife) until around 35-37 weeks, but it's more than likely just the baby's head snugglin' on your cervix! That's all I could find/was told when I was going through it. :(

That's pretty much what I figured, but I thought it better to be safe than sorry. :) Thanks!

Agreed! It is early for baby to drop, I'm only 34 weeks and Cheyenne has dropped into position :p, so it's not unheard of. I'm pretty sure that's what you've been feeling. Like a sharp stabby pain?? Unfortunately it doesn't get much better from here on out, the pain for me is progressively getting worse and more frequent! I'd say if it happens and you're standing, sit down if you can! That's what usually stops it for me :)

Yep, a sharp stabby pain is exactly how I would describe it. Oddly enough, though, I've noticed it the most when I'm sitting down. Maybe because i'm not doing anything and I'm more aware of things? I dunno. But I'm definitely glad to know it's normal.

BTW, Cheyenne is a very pretty name. It was at the top of our list until we settled on Haylie.

I have the same feeling. I'm 35 weeks now. I've been trying to describe the pain to my husband, and the only way that I can describe it to him is "being punched in the cervix" lol. My doctor told me that it was the baby getting into position and getting ready. OUCHHH.

Yep…
Not helpful, but it's normal and makes me wiggle my hips to stop it.

Thanks. I'm glad to know its normal, and everyone's replies have put hubby's mind at ease too. First time parent syndrom, you know. ;)

Both of my babies have been feet down until very late, and at times it would feel (still does with this one) as if they're doing the Riverdance on my cervix. Ouch!

Oh, yeah, I bet that would be rather unpleasant. Anything pushing that hard on your cervix from the inside is enough to take your breath away just a little bit. Not fun.

mine has been head down for a long time and sometimes it feels like she might be fist pumping my cervix. like there's a jersey shore night club in my uterus or something.

I freak my husband out and tell him it feels like baby is reaching down and scratching my cervix (well, i tell him vagina because if i say cervix he's like "what?"). so then he's afraid to bother me for sex, because he's terrified that baby is going to reach down and grab him ahahaha

i'm so mean

ahhhh my hubby and i are on "hold" till at least thursday when I see my doc. I got really upset today because he seem to take the "we can't have sex" really well and i got all "You're a guy how can you be so ok with us not having sex" his reply "I'm not ok with it but what am I going to do about it, risk hurting you, or my son? No. So I'll go without and not complain." (L&D nurses thinks us having sex might have triggered my contractions.)

Hahaha, my boyfriend thinks he's going to hit the baby and leave an indentation in her head. Wtf? lmao. I told him not to flatter himself & that he doesn't hit my cervix when we have sex so he wont get anywhere near the baby! LOL I guess I'm mean tooo!! ;)
