Julie hunged up the phone in relief. It had taken her nearly an hour to find a working phone booth.
I am a lucky girl. A damn lucky girl. Running around the city in the middle of the night. I could've been mugged again or killed. Bentley was more than happy to hear from me. He'll let me have his couch for a bit. Thank god. Without my money I can't even get a hotel room.
Julie had one more stop to make before she went to Bentley's apartment. She strolled to Gotham graveyard.
Dad, I am so sorry I haven't been here to visit you. It's been years. I am so lost right now. I have nothing. My country, my marriage, everything. It's all gone. I wish you were somehow here again.
Julie placed a lone rose on her fathers grave and walked away in sadness.
Now to find Bentley's place. He is living above the old Gotham Playhouse. I remember doing some productions there back when...no..no...stop thinking about the past.
Julie walked past streets and alleys ever cautious about who was behind her back. She heard some groaning coming from an alley.
Keep walking...keep walking...
But her curiousity got the better of her. She peered into the alley and saw the man who had mugged her before. He was bruised, bloody and tied up.
Well how about that? Batman must've gotten him. No...it could've been any one of them. Robin, Huntress or any of those heroes.
Julie looked through the groggy man's pockets and found her stuff.
At last! My luck is starting to change!
"Freeze miss! You're under arrest for assault and theft!"
Julie turned around and saw a lone police officier pointing a gun at her.
Oh no. This doesn't look right. I am loving my first night back in Gotham.
(NOTE: Julie's backround as a ruler of a European country came from the World's Finest comics in the 70's, I am not making it up. I prefer giving her a more down to Earth backround, hence me moving her back to Gotham)
