On The Street

Nov 04, 2007 01:38

Julie awoke groggy and cold.

Ouch...where am I? What happened?

Julie struggled to piece together what happened as she pulled herself up from the Gotham street she had landed on.

The attacker. I tried to spray him and...

That was the last thing Julie could remember. She reached for her purse to call the police only to realize it wasn't there.

Drat! He must've taken my purse. What else happened....?

Julie examined herself and saw her clothes were mostly intact and her body was no worse for wear.

At least he didn't rape me. Some first night back in Gotham. I am broke and have nowhere to go.

Julie realized waiting for a cab alone on the street at this time of night would only get her killed. She had was lucky to be alive after that first attack and didn't want to chance things again.

She walked looking for the nearest, and cheapest hotel.

I could always call on some old friends for help. Linda Page, haven't spoken to her in ages. What am I thinking? I haven't spoken to these people in years. They will be insulted if I all of a sudden ask for help now!

Julie looked up in the sky and saw the bat signal beaming from police HQ.

I wonder if he ever thinks about me? I wonder what he would think if he knew I was back? Maybe he would help me get back on my feet.

No. No. I have no right to interfere with Bruce. Especially after the cruel way I ended our engagement. After the games I played with him. I have no right to ask him for any favors.

Julie saw an empty phone booth nearby. She ran in and looked up through the pages of the phone book.

Mr. Bentley! My old director! He's still in town! He'll help me out.

Julie reached for her purse to get some change, until she remembered that she had been mugged.

Sighing, she picked up the phone and got ready to make the collect call.

No dial tone. The phone was dead.

I forgot how much I hated Gotham.
