Wednesday I woke up early to pack my stuff up. I had purchased some of those plastic vacuum-travel bag things for this trip (did I mention that in a previous post?). They work pretty well, but it takes a little time to sort out my clothes the best way to squeeze them down.
The day we were leaving, they began filling up the swimming pool. There was all kinds of brown stuff in there, and it was nasty looking. :) Everyone got up at a decent time, got packed, and we went to check out. The check out was very smooth, no big issues. Angela & Mike weren't going back yet, they still had an extended trip to Arizona.
The check-in at the airport wasn't too bad, but there were a lot of people compared to what we're used to. Once we were checked in we made our way to the security checkpoint. Wow. There were hundreds of people lined up. I felt like we'd be there for hours. Fortunately McCarran International Airport really has their act together. The line kept moving at a pretty constant rate, and it was all very organized. They definitely have a smooth operation, probably as smooth as it could be considering the volume that apparently goes through there. I don't think it took more than 20 minutes or so.
Once we got "on the other side" we found the food court. We grabbed a table at a sports bar. Perry grabbed some pizza for the plane, and Young & I went ahead and ate. We had a couple hours to kill, so we took our time. After eating we found our gate. I was wondering if the airport had any kind of wireless access, so I pulled out my laptop and waited to see what would happen. Turns out McCarran has FREE wireless internet in the airport! That same day (as I was logged on for free), there was an article in the Pilot about how Norfolk would start offering wireless internet for $7 or $8 a day. Typical. haha
The flight home wasn't too bad. We left around 3:30, 10 minutes late as we were waiting on some people on a connecting flight from LA. I was pretty tired, so I slept almost the whole way. We arrived in Norfolk, our luggage was where it should be, and we found Young's mom with the car pretty quickly. Once I got home, I was still feeling somewhat energized, so I started my laundry and began the process of adjusting back to normal life in Hampton Roads... :)
Overall it was a great trip. It was my first time there, and I had the chance to experience some new things. The Las Vegas area is absolutely beautiful, between the hotels/casinos, the desert, and all the beautiful people. :) Overall the gay scene is pretty disappointing (at least compared to what you would expect), but I think now that a club like Krave is starting to grow, maybe they will get some more gay outlets. But the larger straight clubs seem to be enjoyable enough in the meantime. I enjoyed my time gambling, I don't feel that I'm addicted or anything, so my mom would be proud. I'll go back though. Angela also said that the Arizona portion of their trip went really well, and she actually enjoyed that time more than Vegas, so I guess I'll have to check that out at some point too.
