LAS VEGAS: TUE MAR 8 2005

Mar 08, 2005 23:59

Tuesday was our last full day in Vegas. We decided to go to the south end of the Strip to see some of the hotels we hadn't explored yet. We took the monorail down to the MGM Grand and went from there. Besides housing Studio54 and some other shows, they also have a Lion habitat there. You can walk in a glass walkway underneath the lions. :) That's probably about as close as I'll ever have the chance to get to a grown, adult lion.

New York-New York is also an interesting place, with a squeezed in NY skyline, Statue of Liberty, and various NY attractions. They also have a roller coaster, but we didn't ride it.

Excalibur is fronted by a huge castle.

The Luxor is a huge pyramid with the Sphinx outside. I'm not sure why I didn't take a picture of the inside, but it's pretty impressive from an architectural standpoint... the floors with the rooms move inward toward the middle of the pyramid. There are more shops between Luxor and Mandalay Bay, some higher class stores and such.

The Bellagio is also beautiful and has a fountain show we didn't really get to catch (we saw parts and warmups, but never the full, entire show). There's a large conservatory inside with a variety of flowers and plants. My pic in there didn't turn out very well.

The M&M Factory is also an interesting sight. 4 floors of M&M merchandise. On the second floor, they have a display where you can select from 40+ different colors of M&Ms. Wow! They make them in colors you'd never see in a package at the store, so that's cool. Somehow Perry, Young, and I somehow (reluctantly) crammed into a photo booth to get our picture taken there. haha

We returned to the hotel. Perry & Young went to pursue some other things while I tried to duplicate my craps winnings from the previous night. The table just couldn't get hot, and I lost $50-100. I don't remember exactly how much.

We rested up some and then we were going to go to what was supposed to be the 2nd best gay dance club in Vegas (behind Krave of course), Gipsy. I was a little surprised by the size. It doesn't look HUGE from the outside, but it does look bigger than it really is. It's basically a sunken dancefloor, with a bar and some tables around it, with a large set of video screens at the front. It's definitely smaller than the Wave, maybe smaller than the Ambush. The special that night was $2 well drinks, and boy did we put them down!!! Once we had some drinks in us and the music started to pick up, we finally hit the dancefloor. The music turned out to be really good for the most part. We also met some other tourists in town and danced with them some. They had a drag show that consisted of 1 performer. She was pretty good though.

We have some pretty good phone-videos of Young & Perry dancing in front of the video screens. I'll try to get those posted. =)

We left around 3am to go back to the room and rest up for the big day traveling back home.
