I'm sitting at Belleville's Panera (aka St. Louis Bread Company). I've been "off" this week, and have been busy doing little things around the house, and setting up the new table saw and fence/router system. I'll have to put some pics up. For the moment, I just wanted to get out of the house, and as it's not too cold out, I decided to walk downtown.
It snowed a little last night. Nothing major, just enough to give the dead grass a white coat. All of my travel stuff is in place for the indoc class at IBM. It will take place in Fairfax, VA. Mon-Wed. It'll be interesting to see what other kind of people IBM is hiring these days. Not sure about the rest ofthe week, but I suspect I'll spend them getting set up in the apartment in Pentagon City. I'm looking forward to working with Gert again. He really pushed to get me into this position. The travel will suck, but I've done worse. At least it will be the SAME travel each week - and no driving. Train from Belleville to St. Louis airport, fly into Reagan, then another train takes me to either the apartment or work. Sweet.
I'm all shopped up - dress slacks and shirts. Not quite the IBM of old with black or blue suits, white shirts, and plain ties. Gert tells me that the dress code will be shirt+tie. Not too bad. I also found a very nice
bag for my laptop. I got the wasabe green/black. Very cool design. Especially for travel. Both Laura's eMac and my powerbook now have iSight firewire cams, so we'll be able to have video chats - that will help some.
Guess I'll head back to the house now.
