Adventures in shopping:

I went to Target tonight to buy Pitch Perfect. The deal was buy the movie and the soundtrack, get five bucks off your total. The movie was cheaper at Wal-Mart, and I've already...uh...acquired the soundtrack, but Target CDs usually have exclusive stuff, so I went to check it out.

Could not find the CD for the life of me. The endcap at the registers didn't have the CD so I had to go back to the electronics section. Checked the soundtrack section, checked the "hot releases" endcap, nada. I asked a red shirt for help and he enlisted a fellow, female employee for additional help. I suspect because I was buying a total chick flick.

She, in a condescending manner, told me that the soundtrack doesn't come out until "a few weeks after". She must have meant home video because I was clearly holding the Blu-Ray for the movie in question. I was like, "Uhhhh, no? The movie came out this summer." "It came out this summer? I didn't hear anything about it." "Well, you should, it's totally awesome. And the soundtrack is already out. I have the album on my iPod right now." "Downloads are usually available sooner..." "The Breaking Dawn II soundtrack is literally in the next aisle and that only hit theaters a month ago." (Also.) We did eventually find it, mislabeled in the "hot releases" endcap. And yes, the Target release had 4 additional tracks, so I totally bought it.

There was probably a dozen or so DVD/Blu-Rays left, and 2 CDs. So that'll be fun for them.

Last week I went to the local grocery store to buy fettuccine fixings. They'd closed off the frozen food and dairy section for a floor waxin', and there was a guy who would get what you needed from that section. I'm assuming his specialty is floor waxing, and not grocery finding. I said I needed heavy whipping cream. He asked, "Like, in a can?" "Uh, no. It's with the half-and-half." I'm lucky I hadn't sent someone else on the errand.

I have a newish coworker named Joyce. She's in her mid-20s, and we're both amused by going "Hi, Joy," "Hi, Joyce" at each other at least once a day. She's also my Secret Santa recipient. I got her two tree ornaments that read "Joy" and "Peace", I thought she could make her own "Joyce" out of it. She'd just have to, y'know, find someone named "Pea" to give the extra letters to. I was helping her out today and I pointed that out to her. Maybe she'll know it's me now? But we're revealed this Friday anyway, so it's all good.

I still have my old car. I bought my new one in April, and they offered me a crappy trade-in rate. I had a coworker interested so I'd parked it on the street until he got the scratch. Six months later he had $100 towards my asking price of $400. So he'd have the full amount in a mere 2 years, awesome! Also, winter parking. I'd have to move it daily, double awesome! So I put that in my parking lot space and have been parking my new car on the street. Regardless of that, my old car got towed for snow removal. The tow company guy was...really nice? I don't have insurance on that car (cuz I don't drive it) and I watch too much Parking Wars so I asked if I'd still be able to retrieve it. He said yes, but not to mention that part when I picked it up. I asked if he knew anyone who'd want my car, and I got a call from said guy the next day. He was supposed to get it today but now we're planning for tomorrow. I'm VERY EXCITED. Like, had trouble going back to sleep this morning excited. And Christmas is still a week away. It's not $400, but...yeah, I've been opposite siding it for 6 weeks now. That's less important to me now. And I'm going to see if AAA will reimburse me for the tow. Which would be awesome.

financially prudent (ha ha ha), life, movies
