I'd preordered The Avengers from Amazon. There was a $5 coupon and the release day price was $19.99 so I should have paid $14.99. Nope! Paid $19.99. Coupon was applied, price match was not. The adjustment is supposed to happen automatically but it hadn't a week after the release. I emailed them on Wednesday night and was told I'd be getting a $10 refund soon, which just posted. Including shipping, my out-the-(metaphorical)-door price for the
4-disc Avengers set was $12.97. Sweeeeeet.
Got paid yesterday. We're allowed to bank a max of 252 vacation hours, and I was at 240. I'd be maxing out at the end of this month so I cashed some in for a 50% payout. I'm only at 180 hours now! D: I also got a bonus, but I wasn't supposed to, heh, so it was a pretty nice check. Because I'm neurotic and fairly honest, I still informed my boss of the mistake. I could just imagine myself holding my breath for the next month waiting for a "hey, was there something you wanted to tell us?" email. He said we'd even if out down the road. I told him I was going to deposit the check in my savings and then WOO THE INTEREST IS MINE BAM. Also, I had 10 hours OT this week, and am planning for at least 6 next week, so the next one will be decent as well. :)
Relatedly, I think I'm getting jacked on my car insurance. Carrie at work just got a new car, and for full coverage for her and her bf, it's only $50 more than I'm paying for just the one car. My only speeding ticket was in '04. I've been pulled over three times in the past year but never got cited so I don't think those count against me. I'm still on my parents' insurance so I don't know if it's my record that's even being looked at. My renewal is this month so I called Carrie's agent. We'll see.
Also have a pretty strong bite on my old car. I told the guy I'm either selling it to him or the junkyard by the end of the month. A) My tabs expire then and B) Winter parking rules start Nov 1 and I'm not dealing with that. (Old car's been chilling on my street since mid-April.) We did a half hour test drive last night and he left pretty satisfied. I'm only asking $400, so even just salvaging what he wants and then crushing it would even him out.
A coworker got scratched up by his dog, on his face. There's two scrapes on either side of the philtrum. He told me he's worried about scars. I said if he ended up looking like
Pubert Addams, that'd be cool right?? Then I said he could always grow a mustache to cover the scar; that's what Howard Hughes did after a plane crash. He replied, "Who's Howard Hughes?" WHAT. He's my age, actually, he's a year older than me! I was like, "director...industrialist...airplane innovator..." Nothing. I finally said "Did you see
$pringfield? Burns' descent into madness is based on him." The next day I asked Carrie, who's a year younger than me, and she didn't know who he was either. And yes, I knew about him before The Aviator. (Almost wrote Avengers!) I vividly remember "Howard Huge" on TaleSpin in the '90s.
Given that all of my reading lately has been Saturday Night Live memoirs and I'm planning Jonestown/Peoples Temple books next, maybe my interests are just super varied.
Wanna see Pitch Perfect. Going out tonight, though, and I need to buy a new shower curtain first...so I can shower. Annie (my new kitteh) had been trying to burst through the old one, Alien-style, for almost a month and she finally managed it last night. OH ANNIE.
