Great Weekends

Last weekend, Natalie and Judith visited for the Cherry Blossom Festival. We had a great time going to the African Art Museum (not at all crowded), the American History Museum (very crowded), and the Tidal Basin to see the cherry trees (omg so crowded). Pictures are here. We also spent some time flying kites on Sunday. Overall it was a very low-key and fun weekend.

I got to show off my new costume for belly dance. It is purple and silver and twirly and everything I ever wanted as a six-year-old playing dress up. I'll post pictures from the show when I have full make up and jewelry on. The show, by the way, is May 1 at 4.00 and May 2 at 7.00. Tickets are $25. Let me know if you are interested in going. I'll post more information as it gets closer to time.

Yesterday, I went on a zoo tour that was organized for the volunteers that are not assigned to tours. Ex. I work in the office, and many volunteers are assigned to the Bird House, Great Ape House, Asia Trail, etc. and don't know much about the rest of the zoo. I got some great pictures (starting here after the snow pictures), and the weather was fantastic. It was nice to learn more about the zoo and meet some of the other volunteers.

On my way back from the zoo, I got free candy! There were two women with Ghirardelli samples outside the metro, and they asked if anyone was willing to be filmed describing their 'Ghirardelli moment' which appears to be their new marketing thing. I am always willing to do ridiculous things for chocolate, so I was filmed saying 'My Ghirardelli moment happens on any day that ends in a Y.' No, I do not feel bad for being so cliche. I got even more free candy out of it. I actually gave some to the bus driver since he waited a bit for me to finish signing their release form before I got on the bus.

Guess who has really good tickets to see Green Day in August? That would be Brooke and me. One of my coworkers sent me a presale password for the show, so we didn't have to worry about having to resort to lawn seats with all the drunk college kids. I predict it will be awesome.
