Busy Busy

Brooke and I saw Young Frankenstein at the Kennedy Center last weekend at it was fun. All the jokes from the movie, plus ridiculous song and dance numbers. While there, I made my next purchase with my Christmas gift certificate, so I will be seeing the Mariinsky Ballet perform Sleeping Beauty in February. Yay, culture!

The official Tai Shan goodbye party is Jan. 30 at the zoo. I get to help out with the arts&crafts station. I was assured that I will not be required to actually do any arts or crafts, just damage control and clean up. If you want to see Tai Shan one last time, I would recommend not going on the 30th as the zoo will probably be a madhouse. People are crazy about pandas. We'll still have Mei Xiang and Tian Tian until the end of the year at least, possibly longer depending on how negotiations with China go.

Practice for The Vagina Monologues has been going well except for the two women who had to drop out for (unrelated) personal reasons. Parts have been shuffled about, and I'm not as comfortable with my new lines. There's still almost a month until the shows, so I'm sure we'll all be fine. Anyone interested in coming to see the show, the performances are Feb. 13 at 8.00 and Feb. 14 at 3.00. Tickets are $20 with proceeds going to Doorways Shelter for Women and Children in Arlington. If anyone wants to make a donation to Doorways without going to the show, let me know.

Work has been getting crazy busy, so I got permission from my supervisor to work weekends if I want. I haven't done much of that yet, but I feel more able to handle the amount of work I have to get done in the next two months knowing I can work as many hours as I need to.

Right now I'm baking cookies for
ell's party this afternoon. I will have to leave in the middle of the party to go to play practice, but I get to go back after. Today is a short practice for me. Yay, party times! Later this week, several of us will visit the Terra Cotta warriors exhibit at the National Geographic Museum, and I am super excited about it. The whole museum has been filled with the warriors. It's going to be so cool.
