Last Post of 2009
We got off work 2hrs early today. Thanks, Mr. President! So I am relaxing at home with no plans to go back out until tomorrow night for Zoolights. You will have two more chances to see me rock out in a panda costume, tomorrow and Saturday. I will try to remember to bring my camera and ask one of the other volunteers to take pictures and/or video of me flailing about.
Rehearsals start Sunday for The Vagina Monologues, and I really need to work on my lines before then. I brought my script home intending to practice over Christmas, but I let the internet take up all my time instead. Oops. Brooke will probably be very glad to not be home for the next few days as I wander about the apartment talking to the cats about vaginas. (Note: the cats are not overly impressed.)
Christmas was nice this year, and I got to catch up with several cool family members. I just wasn't all that excited about the whole thing. Not really sure why. I did get some fantastic presents (sweater from my sister, gift certificate to the Kennedy Center from my parents, several Muppet movies from my grandmother) really only marred by one thoughtless gift that just arrived at my parents' house today (gift card to a spa only found in Baton Rouge). Mom's going to check and see how long it's good for. If it expires before I'm going to be back in town, I'll tell her to use it for her and my aunt's next spa weekend.
I did get to see Sherlock Holmes with several friends from high school and one of my cousins. It was a really fun movie, and I thought the characters were written mostly true to the stories. I do think Rachel McAdams was miscast as Irene Adler because she's too young to really portray the experience and manipulative brilliance that Adler had in the books. I'll probably go see it again once it comes to the drafthouse theater near me. They have $1 movies on Mondays and Tuesdays.
