Isn't it hilarious that as the clock ticked to over to 12:01 I was watching Project Runway on Youtube whilst analysing the first Haute Couture Spring Summer 08 collections in Paris. Way too fashion conscience over here! Probably due to me being in Melbourne for three days and still not having not gone into a single shopping centre. I think I'm going to have to take public transport tomorrow because I am an idiot for still not having my license.
And another idiot thing, I have a lame ass fake tattoo on my lower back. In fact, it's SO lame that it's funny, seriously. I was cleaning out some junk from my room and found these angel wing tattoos that must have come from Dolly or Girlfiend magazine, so, for some crazy reason of which I do not know, I ended up with a tattoo on my back. Hey, at least I had enough sense to stick it somewhere where no one can see it.
Oh how I wish the Haute Couture collections were readily available for all to get their hands on, not that I would be able to afford it..
Current trends to see in the coming year, thus far:
- big shoulders!
- sheer fabrics
Anne Valerie Hash
Is fierce yet whimsical. I like, a lot. I would gladly wear all of the looks!
Chanel
Was true to Chanel; soft neutral colours with a tiny bit of quirkiness and sparkle. I'm not a real Chanel fan, but the textures are really something, I wouldn't be surprised to see Emma Watson in any one of these pieces. Oh, and as per usual, a good half of the collection was the good old Karl Lagerfield Chanel jacket.
Christian Lacroix
Was like playing dress-ups and pretending to be a secretive gypsy. Christian Lacroix does wonders with the draping and 'puffing up' of chiffons and always makes all the creations look so magical and flowy. All those textures, colours, patterns and beading is just pure bliss. LOVE LOVE LOVE. 'An Angel Passing By' is the name of the collection, and oh my, is it heavenly. Have I said I REALLY love this collection?
Christian Dior
The Prom Queen of Haute Couture; predictable and over-done. None-the-less, impressive as always. Drag queen yet oddly chic at the same time. No one does fabric origami like Dior. Galliano awes me once again and strangely I could picture myself in some of the pieces, minus the hair, minus the makeup.
Giorgio Armani
I would pay immense amounts of money for all of Armani's Haute Couture collections to be made into Ready-to-Wear collections. Mass feminism with cinched waists, demanding LBDs and beautiful beautiful cocktail dresses.
Givenchy
Chanel for the older woman. Same quirkiness, same sleekness. The same old impressive biker jackers as well as a couple of amazing feather dresses. I am forever amazed by the sleekness that can still be achieved even after all the volumising details.
Oh God, I'm done for tonight.
