To prove that I rarely learn from past mistakes, I'm sick AGAIN. Not that I was ever fully recovered from the cold I caught last week, but I'm fairly sure I wasn't rolling around in bed with a fever on Friday. Of course, there's only myself to blame; if I hadn't stopped studying Thermodynamics a month ago, I wouldn't have had to cram three chapters in 14 hours on Sunday, then I wouldn't have stressed my head off, which means I would have gotten a healthy seven hours sleep last night as opposed to zero. Zero hours sleep due to my rolling around with a fever and not because I pulled an all-nighter; the situation wasn't that dire (the situation being the 9am Thermodynamics test I had today).
No comment as to how my test went; I don't want to jinx anything. But for reference, my fellow I-Failed-Thermodynamics friend, Hakeem, chain-smoked his way through some dodgy home-made cigarettes after.
I'm finding it hard to believe that it's Autumn and that Winter has yet to come, what with the sudden hit of icy temperatures. As a result, since my last spending spree, I've veered away from
ridiculous purple skirts and more towards things that will keep me warm. For some reason, it's surprisingly hard to find warm tops that will cover my entire top half; cut-outs were big in the 80s, and everyone knows the 80s are all the rage now. After handing in a big assignment on Friday, I treated myself to a trip to The Glen shopping centre after university. I spent quite a bit of time there just doing the rounds and couldn't find anything that fit my criteria, the criteria being: Will keep me warm. As a last ditch effort, I went into
Sportsgirl (after multiple visits) and looked a bit more carefully.
I've found Sportsgirl is so..Topshop these days; all about what's in right this very second. I'm not complaining at all, because I like nearly all the things in there, however as much as I like the clothes, I could only ever see myself wearing them on nights out and not for my trips to uni.
However, luckily for me I spotted this top. It's a black knit sweater that's really a cardigan. You can't really see, but on the inside there are two rows of snap clips that you can change around, depending on how you want the layers to fall. It's so warm and comfy that I've been living in it ever since I bought it.
I wore this to university today, and all my friends wanted to know why I was wearing a kilt with a bow on it. Darcy says I have the most eccentric clothing, but he hasn't even seen my purple suspender skirt..
Also, I have taken to wearing tights on top of each other, usually with my thick merino wool ones underneath. I don't know why I never thought of this before; it seems so logical. The effect is surprising, in that my legs are warmer than if I had worn pants. I suppose they trap the heat better..
Anyhow, rest and relaxation for me. I'm going to sit in this bed all day with Akira and my electric blanket and my mum bringing me honey lemon tea. And I won't touch a single bit of work. Apart from maybe a tiny bit of Thermodynamics?
