As promised, the low-down on my bit to boost the economy. It would probably be wise to take into account that I'm not usually this excessive.
Anyhow, shopping in the city with Lisa yesterday was mostly centred around
Sportsgirl. We headed straight for the Bourke Street store (which is MASSIVE incase you haven't been) and grabbed every single thing that interested us. Usually I'm fairly restrained when shopping with other people, however with a fellow Sportsgirl-lover I go pretty crazy. After a lengthy time in the changing rooms (with the most amazing gay shop assistant), we browsed the accessories. By some coincidence,
Feng also happen to be in the store and so we spent the next 20 minutes or so testing out all the nail polishes, which will explain why each of my nails are a different colour. On that note, I'm actually quite impressed with Sportsgirl's nail polishes; they dry fairly fast and any streaking disappears after the second coat. I have to admit, this hideous baby blue polish that looked very cute in the bottle, isn't looking so hideous on my nail anymore. Obviously first impressions are always right, and so I'm going to try my hardest to not let the colour grow on me lest I end up buying the polish.
We stayed in Sportsgirl for quite a long time. Well, long enough for my nail polish to completely dry. There's just far too many quirky things to look at in there, plus the photobooth was also quite entertaining (evidence of which is in the previous post). For the amount of time we spent in there, I'm surprised I only ended up getting one thing: a red tartan
Minty Meets Munt skirt. I seem to gravitate towards anything remotely tartan or checkered these days..
Photos under the cut. Also, behold this shotty attempt at photoshopping. My skills seem to have slipped
since then..
This large mass of purple is my new skirt by
Miss Lyndel Yeo, a Melbourne designer. It's the sort of clothing that I'm quite sure will be an embarrassment to me in ten years time. How I find these ridiculous pieces? I don't know. I've since worn this out once and have had the restuarant owner at Goshen ask me to stand up so she could see it properly.
I prefer to wear it with the suspenders down, as I like the criss-cross effect it gives at the back, plus it minimises the cute-ness factor just a little. On Miss Lyndel Yeo's website, it's shown with the bubble bit pushed upwards, which creates nice volume, however I think the bubble bit down is just as nice and more casual..if it's at all possible to look casual when wearing a big purple skirt..
Also picked up this warm cherry tassle scarf from
Dangerfield (shown with my new Minty Meets Munt skirt). I don't usually buy scarves because I'm rather picky about them, however this one I just picked up and bought in five minutes. I'll also confess that I got the blue version of
these tights. I know it seems unnecessary, but in my defence, they were only five dollars, not counting that the sales assistance failed at counting and only charged me $25 for both scarf and tights when scarf = $28 & tights =$5. I didn't notice until I got home, okay!
I think I should also point out that I DIDN'T BUY ANY SHOES!! To be honest, I tried on a pair in
Nine West and liked them A LOT, but refrained since I clearly don't need any more shoes. Especially not ridiculously high, hot pink ones.
