It is 4:00 in the morning. Raissa and I are leaving in one hour to catch our 7:00 flight out of New Orleans to New York City. It has been a crazy last day to say the least. It's been awhile since I've posted. I have been doing pretty well -- each day is a new adventure; my life continues to be a roller coaster of ups and downs. Crazy start of the week! Yesterday around 11:15 a.m., the power suddenly went out in the center. We soon were told that there was an electrical fire, which caused the power outage. We brought all of the 75 kids into the hot, sticky weather and had them wait out there for hours! It was pretty intense - the kids were wild, hot, hungry, and restless! ( Read more... )

Just finished day 3 of legit summer camp here at North Rampart Community Center! First off, I love the kids! There are about 75 of them, aged 7-14. They are split up into four different groups: little girls, big girls, little boys, and big boys. Yesterday was a pretty rough day, and I felt really homesick. I felt lost, out of place, passionless, and I didn't feel like myself. I felt very negative and I wasn't letting in the Holy Spirit. Although I was focusing on God, I wasn't prayerfully letting Him in and really allowing Him to work through the little everday problems that come about. ( Read more... )
