I just read about an amazing thing.
It’s called the Alaska Permanent Fund. It’s a state-run trust fund “for the benefit of all Alaskans.” It saves a percentage of oil and mineral revenue of the state and puts it in the trust. The trust is now worth over $32 billion. Its profits are used for two things. It pays for the government, because Alaska does not have state income tax or state sales tax. And the amazing thing its profits are used for? Giving free money, about $1,000 a year, to every Alaskan.
Lessening taxes, the government essentially paying for itself, and giving away free money? Every state should ideally have this.
