(no subject)
I was at karaoke with Caleb and Esther a few days ago. I made a joke about scaring people who’d want to fight me with my manly hairiness and flashed them the hair shirt, which was met with laughs. Caleb then gets up to sing. Right then, a girl near me asks if I could let her by, so I have to stand up and move away from the chair so she can squeeze past the two tables. As I stand up, I hear applause. I think it’s for Caleb, but I realize Esther is laughing at me. Then I look around and realize people are applauding in my direction. I sit down confused and ask Esther what happened. Caleb had announced on the microphone, “Everybody, give the small hairy ape man in the corner a round of applause.” He finished that the instant I stood up to let the girl by so everybody knew who to applaud. And they did. Nice coincidence. I probably would have gone along with it had I been paying attention.
I saw “The Night Watch”, or “Nochnoi Dozor” for the Russophile purist in you, with Erika. I thought it was damn good. I can’t think of another movie I’ve seen recently that I enjoyed as thoroughly as this movie and actually got caught up in watching. It’s just a good feeling to walk out of a theater genuinely satisfied.
Got to see Mikki last night. We discussed, among other things, how to ingratiate yourself with the right people in Florida so you can eat manatee every night despite its status as an endangered species. We’ve never eaten it, but it’s the sea cow. The name says how delicious it has to be.
I finally got my Chairman Mao poster back from being framed. I’m really happy with how it looks. Pure kitsch.
And what a good day for livejournal. Back-to-back great entries on my friends list. Kevin comes clean about pathological lying. Bryce has a story about getting jumped by hammer skins. Now that was good reading.
Basically, this week has been kick ass with my morning classes being cancelled, my Friday class being cancelled, this great weekend, and now spring break. Everything’s coming up Josh.
