So it's the old house truck idea...

There is a huge, impractical looking, blue van/truck at John Mckay's used cars.
My housing situation is tricky- I live in Bratt with A and T, but Louisa live in Marlboro (a 20 minute drive up the hill.) Consequently I spend a good half to three quarters of the week at her house.
Why don't we just move in together? She's on College Property, even though her house is independent. That means that I can't live there officially. Besides, she has a roomate. Said roomate (Emily) is way cool and totally okay with me sleeping there every night, but I still don't want to just move in. But I'm practically living there now.

So. Would it be totally nutso to buy said ugly van/truck, park it in Louisa's driveway, where I park my subaru every night anyway? Then I could live in the step van a hop skip and not even a jump from her house. I could put a bed and a heater in, and slowly, as I had time and money, a cook stove, cabinets, parkett flooring, insulation, windows, the works. I might lose some money immediately, but I wouldn't have to pay rent anymore. Granted, my current car eats upmore than rent anyway, but I wouldn't be driving the van everywhere, and consequently would not have to pay for gas, repairs, blah blah blah as much.

Pros:
Living rent free
living with/close to louisa
owning my own home
being able to move at a moment's notice
I could tinker with it at all times
living in a house truck!

Cons:
Being able to move at a moments notice
no address
cold
its' a hole in the ether where my money goes
What when I'm done with it?
what if I have nowhere to park it
I'm sort of on a lease with A and T
I'd still have my subaru (heck no, I'm not driving my house 10 miles to work!) so I couln't just pick up and leave (well, I can't do that with a house either.)

Yeah, so there are more cons than pros. But it would be so cool! Another con is that there is little workshop space, but on the other hand, there COULD be workshop space, and as it is, I don't have a house with workshop space anyway, and I'm using other places to build things.
All in all, many of the cons that I can think of (that I didn't write on there) would be even more so with a house that's NOT on wheels.

It would probably be foolish and troublesome, but as Zorba the Greek says: "Life IS trouble! Only death is not. To be truly alive is to undo your belt and look for trouble!"

In other news I got invited to display some art in a prominant local gallery today and I've decided to learn to not only learn to play music, but to get over my phobia of playing music.
