Today, a year ago, I flew into NYC with a backpack full of cloths, a few tools and keepsakes, and about $1000 bucks. I took the train to Vermont, and have been here ever since. Today is my one-year Vermont Anniversary. Tomorrow will be my one-year anniversary of meeting Louisa. A lot has changed in a year, mostly it has to do with stability. I have more than enough steady work, I can pay all my bills and usuallly have a bit left over, a house, and most importantly friends that are worth hanging on to. I also have many connections that will hopefull keep me in a good circle of friends and with as much work as I've been enjoying. (and by enjoying I really mean enjoying; I've been enjoying the work I have, which is good.) When I got here I was on the bottom of a barrel. I don't mean that in the usual metahpor though, I mean that it was like being afloat with nothing but the bottom of the barrel to hang on to. By the summer I had managed to wrest myself on top of the barrel, and by now I have something between a nice raft, with a sail and a keel, and a janky but surprisingly stable yacht with a small crew. A jacht with a small crew is really all I need, I think, but someday I hope to have a galeon. (A galeon being a large community with many members all on the same land.) But I'm happy with a yacht today.
In other news, I found a really nice playlist on my Itunes. Since most of the people I know have inbred music, this will probably work on your itunes as well. Simply type in "Baby" in the search field. It's a nice mix of music.
