I've never been terribly impressed with Brian Michael Bendis's ability to write. I kind of liked Ultimate Spider-Man for a while, until I realized that he was never going to speed things up and that he was more interested in having characters spout annoying Mamet-lite dialogue than in having Spider-Man show up in a book called Ultimate Spider-Man.
