(no subject)
Well shalom there everyone! I've been meaning to update more often, even nightly, but that ain't workin' out. Yeah, I'm ghetto--I said "ain't". Anywho! Class #3 of Calc II at NCC tonight. Nassau is a college that is, of course, heavily populated by black people. Or, as we've come to call them of late, "Canadians".
I'm not quite sure how the term originated; all I know is that I learned it from my stepmom, and that not a single black person knows what it really means (except, of course, the "someone from Canada" definition...). And it's a truly wonderful thing because if you go to any area with black people and use words such as "negros" or "coloreds"--perfectly harmless and racially sensitive words--you'll probably get a drive-by. But you can walk into the lobby at the Apollo on KFC Night and say in a really loud voice "God damn, there sure are a lot of Canadians here!" and not one head will turn. It's really a marvelous thing.
