Unusually, I've had a weekend without SJA duties, so I've been lazing around the flat. I've cleared out a backlog of TV episodes from my Digibox, so I now have more space to fill up with new stuff - mind you, a few series have finished recently, so the need is less pressing. I had my (long overdue) flatwarming last night - thanks to all those who came (dynix, elvum, elyon, karne_k, rjw1, shuripentu, terpsichore1980, and a few people who don't have LJs). Day 12: (Delayed from Tuesday evening due to my internet connection conking out.) I've now done the first coat of paint on the hallway walls, so all of the walls/ceilings have now had at least one coat of paint, i.e. there's no bare plaster left. I'll try to get a second coat done on the kitchen/hallway walls tomorrow, then do some cleaning up ( Read more... )

Day 10: I've now done the second coat of paint on the kitchen/hallway ceiling (which I think looks pretty good), and on the WC walls (which still look patchy, but I've used up all the paint, so they'll have to do for now ( Read more... )

Day 9: I've now done the first coat on the kitchen/hallway ceiling (almost white, so quite conservative by my standards) - this has helped to lessen the "living in a cave" feeling of having the same brown colour on walls and ceiling. Day 8: No actual decorating today as such. I disposed of some old furniture (via Freecycle), and also had an electrician out to fix my light (although "12-2" wound up being "by 5pm"). He confirmed that the old fitting was completely broken, so there was no way that I would have been able to reattach it myself. I did consider buying a replacement ( Read more... )

Day 7: Well, today has been somewhat less productive than I'd hoped. I've put another (partial) coat of paint on the bedroom walls, and used up the last of my 5L of paint. It now looks a lot more like a proper room, but there are still a few patchy areas; I can deal with them later, once furniture etc. is all in place ( Read more... )
