Hello?

I keep meaning to do a year end wrap up for 2013 but mid-February seems a little late for it.  In short:  reading was down, travel was down, theater was down.  Travel and theater due to budget because of the move, and reading because of The Slump.

On a happy note, airfare has been booked for Paris this year, along with an apartment in Montmartre for 12 nights.  I haven't figured out what to do with the other 3 nights (Nice, maybe?) but need to figure that out soon.  A colleague keeps pushing Normandy but I'm not sure I want to visit in a big anniversary year.  I found a Champagne region and vineyard tour that I really like but it is INSANELY expensive, so no.  We'll see.  Also on the list is either downloading some language software or taking a few lessons in French so I can handle basic stuff like the metro and negotiating public spaces.

On the health front, all is well.  I mean, as far as I know after having a regular physical and a bunch of standard tests and blood tests for women my age.  I feel healthy (*knock on wood*) and continue to go to the gym on work days.  I've shifted to working out at the gym in my building rather than the gym at work, even though I like the work facilities better.  But in the winter, I hate leaving the house before dawn and getting home after dark, and I dislike schlepping work clothes, shoes, and grooming stuff every day even using travel sized containers.  I didn't gain weight back over the holidays, despite eating pretty much everything in site, but stayed pretty stable.  My diet (in the sense of everyday food; I'm not on a "diet" per se) has returned to normal (much less Poupon's, sadly, and less eating out) and I'm back to slow weight loss.  My doctor would like ~10 pounds more, which I think is pretty do-able between now and my next annual physical (10 months away).

That's about all?  Except for my hockey obsession, which is all asimplechord's fault.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  Watching Olympic hockey this week, women and men, is almost as bad as the Australian Open (#sleepisfortheweak).  Due to a snow day today, I managed to watch parts or most of four hockey games.  Which is probably not healthy, but there was some housework mixed in, along with the gym.

tmi, apropos of nothing, oh life it's bigger, travel
