Thanksgiving at Wayne Manor

Nov 21, 2007 17:56

Historically, Thanksgiving has been a mixed bag of emotions and usually an opportunity for high drama where the Bat family is concerned. There was the year they found out about Bruce's satellite, for instance. The year Selina was first in attendance at the table ( Read more... )

Babs watches Mary with an indulgent smile. "She's used to this place now, isn't she?"

He grins, and has to pause before replying as the toddler indulges herself with a loud, albeit happy, shriek.

I think she just likes the acoustics. I don't know if she's too sure about the stuffed animal heads, though...

"I think she confuses them with her toys." She watches as Mary's hands reach for a moose head.

So, are we drawing straws on who has to drag Bruce up here from the Cave this year?

He pauses long enough to pluck his daughter away from the decapitated moose and out of trouble before Alfred can intervene. Mary is somewhat irked by this turn of events.

It had been a silent drive the entire way up here. Jason gave up on small talk after the first two minutes of dark glares from Helena. He knew she wasn't blaming him for this but it was obvious that this was going to be a very interesting day.

Upon driving up and parking, Jason comes to the other side of the truck to open Helena's door. It's when actually entering the home that a wash of both old feelings and worry of what may come about that flows over him. Though a hand comes over to her own in open show of his support to her.

Helena takes it, but only for a moment. Once out of the truck, she folds her arms around herself tightly. The idea that she's feeling highly self-conscious would be a distinct understatement.

"One word out of him I don't like and I am out of there, understand?" she murmurs as they head up the driveway.

"One word out of him and I may jus' punch him out." He says so more to reassure her that he's on her side and that this isn't something that he's taking for granted.

He switches gears almost immediately though while they make their way to the doorsteps. "If y'wanna head on out Helena, I'm not gonna stop ya. We can leave right now an I can come back later."

"Not unless you want a stern lecture from Alfred," she counters wryly. That may be more of a deterrent than anything Jason's adoptived father could do. She knows he respects the older gentleman. She shakes her head at him. She has to face her own demons. Running away isn't going to change the inevitable. "Just don't expect me to do the small talk thing. With any luck, they'll be eating already and too busy stuffing their faces to do much else than stare."

Selina makes her way down the stairs, not making any secret of her presence. Her heels clap against the stone and the subtle scent of her perfume slides along the air as she comes closer and closer to her goal.

It's going to take a sledgehammer.

All his focus is directed toward the computer. It has been ever since his conversation with Tatsu Yamashiro outside Gotham General Hospital. What the Outsider had to say only augmented his fear. Someone is hunting his team.

Selina stands behind his chair and puts her hands on his shoudlers.

He's attempting to reconstruct the days prior to the attacks. Where did they go? Who did they see? What did they do? Anything that will answer the nagging question. Why these two specifically? Where they randomly chosen? Were they simply accessible and therefore easy targets?

A moment of silence passes before he addresses her, eyes still on the screen. "Go ahead and start without me," he says quietly.

Thanksgiving is a busy time for Tim Drake, as he splits his time between his two families - as well as joining the Titans for a late supper whenever he can manage it.

Nevertheless, he'd never not be here.

Hey everyone! Himself made his appearance yet?

Dick has charge of his daughter once more, although if "charge" can be defined as, 'keeping an eye on her while she runs around the room, wound up by all these people being here'...

He waves from across the drawing room.

Hey, kiddo. Three guesses, and the first two don't count.

Mary makes her way over to her uncle. "Upperdown!"

Tim chuckles as he picks up his niece.

He'll come upstairs eventually. He always does.

Hey, pretty girl! How're you? Looking forward to some turkey for dinner?

Mary wraps her arms around Tim's neck and graces him with a sloppy kiss on the cheek.

"Churkey a dinner?"

-Turkey-, her father corrects, almost as a reflex action. It's his loss. We'll just get to eat the best part of the bird before he does.

Cassandra slinks in from outside. She clutches a box of baked goods she bought at the bakery down the street from the Dragon dojo, hoping that she won't offend Alfred by bringing something he hasn't cooked.

Tim looks up from playing with Mary, and grins.

Hey, Cassandra!

He waves Mary's arm at her, prompting more giggles from the little girl.

A broad grin lights up her face, and she waves, for almost comical effect, at the toddler.

"H'lo, Tim," she lilts, obviously pleased.
