Another mindless entry

Fitness
I've noticed a big improvement in my energy level since I've been working out consistently. That alone is worth it to me. Val looked at me like I was nuts for running up the stairs last night. I worked out 6 days last week. It's the first time I've done that since 2004! I'm enjoying working out again. I knew that was all I needed, to get past the first two weeks. I will not (WILL NOT) step on my scale until the end of the month.

Biz
She had her first taste of sweet potatoes last night. She actual ate them and seemed to like them. She didn't care for the rice cereal so we stopped offering it to her. Right now she's trying really hard to sit up on her own. She has decided that rolling over is overrated and hasn't done it since.

We went to dinner with Biz's birthmom, her newish boyfriend, and her parents for her birthday. It was okay. We got S a gift card for a photography store and a box of Ethel's chocolates. It was nice to see S again and nice to meet her beau. The restaurant wouldn't let us turn a highchair upside down to rest Biz's carseat in and they didn't have the little carseat hammock things. It took us forever to explain to them that it was okay - we would just deal with it. After dinner we walked to a coffee shop and sat and talked for a while. Apparently S's new beau was adopted and I made the mistake of asking him if he knew his birth parents - the response was straight from the gut and it wasn't pleasant. Suffice to say, he does not know his birth parents and has no desire to. It made for a pretty awkward moment. Afterwards, S sent a thank you note in the form of an e-mail. At the end she said how happy she was in her decision to place Biz with us. Makes me cry just thinking about it. We honestly love that girl and her family.

Weather
I'm ready for fall. I want to just wrap myself in a warm sweater and sip warm chai tea. I want to take Biz to Wisconsin to see the changing leaves and visit an apple orchard. I want to make a big vat of green chili with the chilies I brought home after our last Colorado visit. I'm ready to open up windows and let fresh air into our house.
