hypnotized by winter

I love winter. And I love snow. I love cleaning off my car, and the way everything is gray the whole day, cold and quiet. It makes me crave coffee and soup so hot it burns my tongue, and huge breakfasts after shoveling - in fact, when I was little, we'd go over to shovel my grandmother's driveway on snow days, and we'd get a bowl of her homemade pea soup at 8 in the morning. The problem with snow (besides the frenzy it causes in the morning - what shoes do I wear? where's my hat? how long do I need to let the car warm up? why can't the neighbors ever shovel the walkway when they're the first to leave every morning?) is that snow makes me want to stand at the window with a cup of coffee for hours, just thinking.

That's how I feel this morning, awake, alert, but completely uninterested in doing anything other than drinking my coffee and gazing out the window. And possibly thinking about Gerard Way.

It's taken me twenty minutes of looking out across the office and through the conference room out into the wet street to even write the sentence where I say I'll have to post later about the sneak preview I saw of The Golden Compass. Which I will. Have to post later, I mean.

Coffee. Snow. Gerard. Snow. Coffee. Pea soup. Home.

coffee on demand, i'm here to be told
