I will admit that the premise of this fic made me a little uneasy, and out of all of your Tobabi/X fics, this is the one that it took me the longest to get into.

I kind of regret being such a wet rag about it now, because for all of my uneasiness, you've done it very well. I'm enjoying watching Seishirou and Subaru tiptoe about each other in their dance of caution, and how Subaru's half-insanity isn't overblown or unrealistic, but fits for what's happened to him. The characterization that you have between the two is simply lovely, and it's what keeps drawing me back to your stories over and over again.

However, the way that you write Subaru and Hokuto's connection irks me a little, and while it is a somewhat valid way to look at it, I don't see in canon other than her well intentioned, but ultimately destructive wish her controlling him negatively in the way that you seem to see it. However, it's not enough to make me stop reading, just draw back a little bit and feel confused. And you still characterize her beautifully...just their

Is it due to the 'poor, mentally unstable Subaru' part? If that's the issue I understand how it could have made you uneasy

Actually, it was a little more due to the fact that it was Poor Mentally Unstable Subaru running straight into Mostly Normal Seishirou Who's Issues Aren't As Prominently Noticeable As I've Grown To Expect. I haven't actually seen a lot of those, but then, I didn't come into the fandom until late last year, but your's is really enjoyable. Blame the fact that the manga is actually older than I am for my naivety.

Oh yes, I agree with you, she is hard to write and have her come off as she does in the manga, and I wonder a little bit if it isn't just because she's the sunlight through the depressing stories, but as I see, always just a tiny bit dangerous even in her movements, she's never off guard when it comes to watching over her twin. It's subtle, barely even visible, and yet whenever I read it, I always see it, even when she's cackling and dancing, she's also always ready to do whatever is needed to protect him.

Oh, I understand. Technically Seishiro too had issues... only they were mostly addressed and smoothed in the... let's call it the other Subaru's world, so that this Subaru found himself dealing with a sort of lithe version of them

I'm very happy about this update and I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter. Of course I love all the fics that you've written. :) I was just reading the other comments as well and I do find it interesting that there are fans out there who don't seem to get that Subaru has gone off the deep end after the Rainbow Bridge incident. Actually, I don't think Subaru was all that sane even back in Tokyo Babylon, but that's a whole other discussion. Anyway, I also enjoy reading your fics and your characterizations of Subaru and Seishirou especially is always head on.

Well, evidently even in TB Subaru had his own problems (letting a woman stab you so she'll calm down? Subaru, really...) though I guess back then they could be more or less handled.
Rainbow Bridge should have been a big blow for him as well and, to make matters worse, in this fics there were other issues that made his condition even worse.
I guess this one is my post RB most insane Subaru ever as my other Subaru somehow... manage better.

great story, i felt like subaru and seishiro relationship have progressed from the first instant subaru awoke from the hospital; it's cute that subaru is trying to please seishiro even if he's uncomfortable with being so intimate with him, hopefully seishiro will persuade him to throw down his guard and be more natural with him;

hope u will continue this since it's been months u updated, i remember i read somewhere that u already finished this story.
