Recent 501st events/Picnic Gown Fabric
Here are the latest 501st events I've attended.
MAKE A WISH -- August 25th
This was my first Make a Wish event and my first event in Columbia, close to my school. Chick-Fil-A hosted this event and there were a ton of other events in the parking lot and other characters. Sadly, the event was not well advertised so we didn't get a ton of kids, but for those who did come it was completely worth every moment in the 100 degree heat.
I think the one that touched my heart the most was a little girl named Courtney. She requested to march with me in the parade we had. She told me all about how much she loved Star Wars and was so excited to see the 501st out there. It was just a really special moment that made me realize why we do what we do.

BEST BUY GRAND OPENING-- September 15th
We helped open a Best Buy last weekend. This was a really fun event, mostly because I got to see alot of my friends that I hadn't seen in a while, especially Cher. Best Buy really appreciated us coming out and we met alot of really great people, two individuals were beside themselves that there were actually SW costuming groups like us.
As you can see we had 3 Leias! lol. I wish I had an ESB costume because then we'd have a Leia from every movie! I really loved Cher's costume. I never really liked it until I saw her's and now I'm thinking about making it. Not any time soon, probably, but maybe one day. The twilek was awesome too! If I did Aayla I would use the same girl that did her headpeice.

PICNIC GOWN FABRIC
My fabric finally arrived from Thai Silks. I got the crushed Habotai, which I'm probably going to use for my corset, pending me being able to see it (it's at my home now), and a sample of the gold crinkled Chiffon for color reference and tests. Here it is:
I can't wait to see these fabrics in person when I go home on Friday!
