What I'm listening to this week.

This may become a regular feature, as my musical obsessions seem to run in cycles with my moods. This week, my obsession has been female alt-rock artists -- Dido, Holly Brook, Shauna Burns, Sheryl Crow, Jeannie Ortega (although she's more R&B), and the like. As usual, I think there's a playlist in here somewhere...most of the ones I build start like this. I probably won't be able to stop listening to Holly Brook's album "Like Blood Like Honey" (especially the first song "Giving It Up For You," which is AMAZING) for at least a week. Fortuitous purchase at Tower FTW!

Also, I just signed the lease on my new apartment today! I'm sad to be leaving my current place, as it has treated me very well, but this new one is going to be even better I think. Thanks to everyone who has generously offered me their time to help me lift boxes of heavy books -- I've never had so much help, it's sure to go very quickly!

I fly down to California on Thursday to see my parents. I'm looking very much forward to seeing them, although the circumstances (like my last visit) are somewhat bittersweet. Recent issues aside, it is always almost overwhelmingly nostalgic to go back to Ventura. There are many reasons I left, and every time I go back, I simultaneously remember those reasons, as well as the reasons I wish I'd stayed. Emotions are complicated things, indeed.

Pleasant somethings!
