Friday - Senior Banquet night. What a long night. 4 hours at the Olive Tree Bistro, listening to each of the teachers testimonials on every student in our class. Mr. Ockerman introduced me and talked about my life at WCS in 3 minutes. Very touching speech. And I got some of his famous fudge out of it too. Also, I found out I was selected by my peers as one of 4 class agents, to keep track of classmates and be liaisons between our class and the WCS Alumni Association. Lots of things to take home too - the 2002 Class Mug, and the Senior video!
Saturday - 2 parties - Lina's Farewell party and a big one at Robby's. Lina's been a great friend, and I will miss her when she returns to Germany. I hope she enjoyed her time here. She was a wonderful asset to our school. Robby's party was HUGE - Ms. Arab came and I talked to her for awhile, and had a great discussion wtih Mrs. Amos about life in the arts. Then I left to get ready for Baccalaureate, the first time I would wear my cap and gown. When we got our stoles, I found out that I was graduating with high honors - Magna Cum Laude - so I got cords, and I was quite excited. It was a very hot evening, since the ceremony was held outside, and got some fitting reflections from Dr. Nixon, Mr. Collins (long speech!), Mrs. Saidian (good job at the Tagalog), and Dr. Beamer.
Sunday - Went to church, already dressed for graduation, since I had to be at the Metroplex at 12:45 for mike check. Had quick takeout lunch from Bagatelle. Commencement was very exciting. During procession, Johnny tripped and fell flat on his face, got back up again, and went back up to the stage to sit with the rest of class. Haha, funny (I think he may have done it on purpose) I got my diploma!! I sang "To Where You Are," made my mother cry. Good speeches from Amar, Curt, and Marge....Mrs. Hensley's address was quite touching. I'll miss her a lot, and I'm sure the school will too. After graduation, I got some gifts from people - Audrey and Sara gave me a jar of......FISH!! Without the food, unfortunately, so we'll go buy some today. :-p When I got home, I was surprised at home with a cake my cousin had made at Piccadilly with my picture on it. Kind of scary, lol. Brandi came by about 10PM bearing gifts, what a wonderful gracious person she is. I watched the Tonys, too, or at least tried to - I was slightly bored by most of it, except from the production numbers. Urinetown and Throroughly Modern Millie looked great.
And today - sleeping in and relaxation. And more parties.
Tomorrow - More sleeping in and relaxation. And another party, followed by recording at Mark Mazur's.
Finally signed up for Summer Orientation at U of M - Going up to Chicago on July 27, and in Ann Arbor July 29 to 31. Will stay up there for about a week.
There, I'm done!
