Graduation Week: Part One

Jun 03, 2002 15:38

I'm splitting this up into two parts, for reading's sake.

What a week it was. We left for our mystery Senior trip on Sunday, May 26, and found out we would be heading to Six Flags Over Texas in Dallas. We had a wonderful time there. I rode lots of great roller coasters including the Texas Giant (who would've thought I'd ride another wooden roller coaster?), La Vibora (a dumb bobsled ride), Runaway Mountain (a roller coaster inside, in total darkness. Quite freaky, but really fun), and the Batman (really cool ride!) Unfortunately, I developed some mild tonsilitis after screaming so much, so I had a bad day and a half or so. We ate at Spaghetti Warehouse that night (not easy for me because of enlarged tonsils)

The following day we left the LBJ Hilton and headed to New Braunfels, Texas. We went to the Schlitterbahn Water Park Resort for 4 hours, and that was fun, despite the fact that my tonsilitis still bothered me so I decided to not swim, but I did get a little tan, which was nice. Then we headed to Bandera, Texas about an hour and a half away and stayed at the Flying L Guest Ranch for two days and two nights. Lots of tennis, hiking, and I rode a horse for the first time, and almost getting into an accident with it too! (The lady behind me, a wrangler, dropped her sunglasses on the ground, and went to pick it up, and left the horse to keep going, so that horse decided to nip my horse's butt, and my horse went running off, and I started to scream.)

On Wednesday, we left the Flying L Guest Ranch and went to San Antonio and spent the entire day at the Riverwalk. That was fun - I ended up watching Insomnia with a whole bunch of other students at the movie theatre in San Antonio to escape the heat. Then we ate at a nice Mexican restaurant, La Margarita, that evening, and found that Margaret and Curt were our valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively. Then the following day, we left to go back home, returning at 7 in the evening on Thursday.

Next: Banquet, Baccalaureate, Commencement
