While there was a much bigger date coming up, Jim wasn't about to slack on what was their first year anniversary. He never had a problem with finding reasons to show how much he cared about her, and this seemed one of the better moments to celebrate. It was nearly impossible to get into the kitchen - people seemed to be busily getting ready for the upcoming holiday - so he eventually gave in and chose to order out, so to speak, from the Winchester instead. Getting what he knew she liked, he transported what he had with some tupperware to the spot on the beach he'd told her to meet him at. There, he spread out a blanket and had the food there on top of it.
It was much more casual, he knew, than other dates he had with her. Admittedly, he thought a little fun would actually be a welcome relief from the various stresses in their lives. She probably thought they'd only be swimming - in truth, Sam was being watched for the night, and they had the day to themselves.
He liked to think she'd be happy with the idea, but it was hard not to be a little nervous.
