ok so i totally got my wisdom teeth out today. ayush (yvettes bf) was nice enough to drop me off and linsay nice enough to pick me up. i wasnt allowed to eat or drink water after midnight last night, so of course i was starving. then, i woke up at like 5 or 6 and couldnt go back to sleep because i was so hungry and thirsty. this morning before my appointment, they made me take valium and this other stuff to dry out my mouth. by the time ayush came to get me, i was pretty out of it. i just didnt want to move my body and walking took me a lot longer and time seemed to go by really slowly and all i could think about was how dry my mouth was. so then i got there, and they got me in and put me in a chair and put attached all these things to me to monitor my vital signs (yes, there was a heart-bleep machine, but she turned off the sound after a few minutes so it "wasnt freaking me out"). the doctor took forever coming in, and then they put the iv in, which was more ok than i thought it would be because they lowered my arm below the chair so i couldnt see it, i could just feel it. then my arm began to burn a little and i asked if it was supposed to that, and how long it took for me to go under. they said yes, the burning feeling was normal, and that it would take about 30 seconds. the 30 seconds seemed to last forever and i remember looking up at all the faces with their goggles on...and the doctor telling me to think of something nice so that id have sweet dreams...and the next thing i was aware of was the nurse waking me up and i asked her if it was over and she said yes. it didnt even seem like any time had past. i had been unconcious for...maybe 45 min or so, and i didnt even feel time passing, or dream, or anything. it was just like...one minute i was awake, and the next i was waking up without teeth and a numbed mouth and tongue and gauze coming out of every nook and cranny and barely able to talk. then after a few minutes, they led me to this other room where they let me sit down and gave me an ice pack to ice my jaw. i was sitting there with my eyes closed, because i was pretty out of it, and she told me to wake up and keep my eyes open, which i did after a little bit and i started to feel less crazy. then lindsay showed up and she drove me up to campus to get my prescriptions ( i have to take an antibiotic and maybe painkillers) and then brought me to the house. i laid in bed for a long time...i tried to drink some water but it really hurt and made me feel really nauseaus and i changed my gauze a few times, which was gross. its like 4 and i finally feel ready to eat, i took some ib profen which helped with the pain, but i may take the prescription stuff if the pain gets any worse. its hard to move my mouth, and its hard to eat, and it hurts to eat, but im dealing. i also have to ice it every other 20 min which is hard to do when youre also trying to eat and youre tired and just want to lay in your nice warm bed. and everybody and their mother keeps calling me and asking me questions, and its hard to talk, especially with the gauze in your mouth. they called me and told me i dont have to put it back in once the bleeding slows, so i think ill put it in one more time and that should be it, hopefully. well...thus ends the blow by blow account of my wisdom teeth extraction, for anybody who really wants to read this really boring entry.
