Welp, I may in fact have a new car on Thursday. After researching the Vue's further (and discovering their tendency to rollover, as well as several other cars I was considering), I eliminated that from consideration. As of yesterday, I have come to a conclusion as to which car I would get...a Subaru Impreza wagon. All around, I think that's the best match for me. The WRX turbo (read: rally version!) is EXTREMELY appealing to me, but alas, I don't want to end up paying god-knows-what to replace the engine when it goes (and it will go...it may be a few years, but the turbos don't last long compared to regular engines). Plus, insurance premiums are significantly higher for the WRX. The TS is still respectable, at 165 hp (it's lightweight, which will help), so I can live with that. I was planning on buying one from CARMAX, and since they are usually shipped from other locations, it takes a while to get the car you request. Because of that, I wanted to get a feel for what the different Subarus felt like (the Outback & Forrester were still in the running, in addition to the Impreza). So I went to the only Subaru dealer in all of Mid/South GA, and test drove some of them. When comparing the WRX and the TS versions of the Impreza, the WRX was obviously much more powerful (they hit 150 easy). The TS still had decent acceleration (hell of a lot better than the Vibe!), so I will be satisfied with that. Money-wise, it's a much smarter buy. Anyways, it turns out that the dealership has a silver 04 Impreza TS that they are trying to get rid of (what with it being 2005 and all), and they are selling it for an AMAZING price! It's actually cheaper than a lot of the used TS's I've looked at (and obviously in great condition with no miles and full warranty)! I told the salesman that I wanted to sleep on it, since there aren't exactly tons of Subaru's flying off the shelves in GA (I think I've seen like one since I moved here). He's off tomorrow, but I'm going to go and buy it on Thursday. The other salesman that worked there was kind of pushy, so I'd much rather deal with this one. I highly doubt anyone will buy it tomorrow, so I'm pretty safe.
The only other thing about buying the TS instead of the WRX is the interior. A lot of it is *massively* downgraded, so much so that I'll probably replace some of it. I've gotta put in a new audio system, it's lacking both cassette (which I need to plug in my MiniDisc player) and a woofer. I'm also going to replace the rearview mirror, gas & brake pedals, shifter knob, and get a sunroof installed. It sounds like a lot of money, but I'm still going to be under what I would pay for a used one with all the upgrades. The two that can't go unreplaced are the rearview mirror (it's really tiny & cheap) and the pedals (also ridiculously tiny & cheap).
Needless to say, I'm very excited! Now I gotta think of what to name her...
mine will look like that, minus the turbo ;(
These are of my new tattoo...sry they are *really* bad quality (and my foot looks so fat in them! haha)
