One place that only occasionally showed up on my U.S. Capitol tours was the Senate Reception Room. It's not that it wasn't worth seeing -- it's a beautifully decorated space -- but it required a bit of a detour unless I was taking people onto the Senate floor, so if the Senate was in session I usually just passed it by. I'm back from my trip! With apologies to the Harper's Index, here are some facts and figures about the trip:

• Planned length of the trip, in days: 7
• Actual length: 8
• States visited, including those in which I was only at an airport to change planes:  4  5
• Relatives visited: 7
• Campgrounds at which I stayed overnight: 2

I'm out of town this week, visiting my brother and his family out east, so I'm in what Mike Sterling calls Low Content Mode. I've queued six art and poetry posts, one of each for the three states I'll be in during my trip. Enjoy!
