Working Stuff

After 3 and a half weeks of working, I think I'm starting to catch on to this full-time thing:
- I'm getting used to waking up early (5ish) and going to bed early (10ish).
- Since I work 9-hour days and commute 2.5 hours, I only get 3-4 hours each weekday. To get more out of my free time, I have a plan for each day: Monday = Soccer @ UWF, Tuesday = Movie Day, Wednesday = Bible Study/Grillout, Thursday = Soccer or Music in the Park, Friday = Whatever.
- I'm in a 4-man carpool, so I only have to drive one week out of the month...I sleep the other 3 weeks. The only downside is there's always one person who makes everyone else late.
- I've started drinking coffee (for the first time in my life) when I feel drowsy in the morning. I take it black, and it does a good job of helping me get stuff done.
- Three days a week, I get one hour for on-the-clock PT, which I've been using to train for a 5K.
- I get every other Friday off.
- I've noticed that little things make the day better. For instance, I'll have a yogurt each morning when I get here; or, I'll meet a couple guys for lunch at the bowling alley once a week.
- I'm getting to use a lot of my engineering coursework in my present office (Modeling and Simulation of Missiles), including Linear Control Systems and State Space Control Theory.
- I'm also learning a lot of new computer languages (Python, Fortran) and software applications (Zope, Plone).
- I'll get to travel in the next couple of weeks to TN, CO, and a couple other states to assist with a software product install.

So that's life at work. I still do as much as I can on the weekends (beach, fly, grill-outs, sailing, gaming, etc.).

Till next update...
