Space Marine progress
When I logged on today, the "Poll of the Day" was asking if we follow politics. The bottom choice went along the lines of:
"Politics - Isn't that what you get when a parrot swallows a clock?"
Reminds me of the old adage that politics is made up of two words: 'poli', which is Greek for 'many', and 'ticks', which are bloodsucking insects.
Anyway, I came here to give an update on my End-times Goals, specifically on the first one. I have split up the process of fully creating a model/unit into five overall tasks:
Initial Assembly - Partially assembling the model, leaving off any pieces that would interfere with the painting process. For example, weapons held in front of the model's chest.
Undercoat - A layer of special paint that covers the entire model. This aids the overall painting process, as the normal paints tend to pool or run when painted directly onto plastic.
Basic Colors - Painting the basic color scheme onto the model. "Basic color scheme" being defined as those colors that cover large portions of the model.
Detail Colors - Painting on the remainder of the colors used on the model. This will primarily focus on the model's small details.
Final Assemble - Gluing on the pieces that were left off during the initial assembly step.
The army as a whole has been split into 18 models/groups of models, which results in a total of 90 'tasks' to complete the army. Note that these 18 groups do not represent an ideal division of labor per se, but instead reflects the fact that some models were worked upon before others were initially purchased.
