As for the big snowstorm, we apparently broke all historical records for snow in Albuquerque. The hubby and I ventured out long enough yesterday to go get P from my sister's apartment downtown. We got stuck twice before we ever got out of our neighborhood, because this town was so unprepared no one plowed anything but the highway. And this was in hubby's pickup. My tiny car would not have made it out of the driveway. We tried to go to the bank and the bookstore, but everything was closed due to the weather. Seriously, even the MALLS were closed; now that's saying something. It didn't stop snowing until afternoon yesterday. So I actually got all my balls of yarn wound to start my afghan and already have knitted a few inches on that, and I cast on like 166 stitches.
It's supposed to get up to maybe 40 today, and the sun is out, so there is already some melting going on. We are going to try again today to venture out, as we don't want to spend the entire long weekend trapped at home, we might be forced to actually do some *gasp* chores around here. :P That being said, we don't even know what's open. We keep getting an answering machine at our favorite used bookstore, but maybe Hasting's will be open today at least (it was closed yesterday too). My arms are SO sore from trying to push the truck to get it unstuck. This is the first time since moving here that we have needed to use the snow shovel that was in the garage when we moved in. We laughed at why the previous home owners even owned a snow shovel in the first place. Sure am glad they did though, and that they left it for us when they sold us the house!
