Knit from your Stash in 2007

Dec 27, 2006 14:30

I want to thank
quietish for mentioning the "Knit from your Stash" wave that is currently being taken up by so many knitters (such as myself) with a serious "yarn-hoarding" disorder. I buy all this yarn that's not for any specific project 'cause it's yummy, luscious, or most especially "on clearance".  (Did I buy that?) :P Quietish mentioned that she heard about it from WendyKnits, although Wendy's is for 9 months I think, and at this time I only intend to do it for the first quarter of 2007. Then just today
ofenjen mentioned that she is crocheting an afghan out of several complementary colors of varying weights and textures of yarn to use up some of her stash, too. That sounds like a great idea too.

I so love this venue for sharing and exploring our crafts that we have here, it's really terrific. We all love to create, and so often we are at our most creative and most open to experimentation when we are forced to work with what we've already got on hand.

So, in that spirit, I hereby solemnly resolve to knit only from my stash from now through the end of March. The absolutely ONLY exception is for a specific gift that must be completed during these three months for which I do not have sufficient or appropriate yarn. I do not know of anything like this at the moment, just a baby gift for June, so I should be safe, but you never know what's going to come up. There. I announced it publicly, which means it's really real and I must now follow my own rules or risk the ridicule of the entire community. ;)

Wish me luck! If I come up with anything that is actually interesting, I'll post some pics.
