Nic flew out this morning. I was barely concious to say goodbye. I should really start going to bed earlier. I thought her whistley snore this morning was Barbie crying to go outside but when I got up Barbie was still asleep on the couch. I let her out anyway and she toiletted, and then passed out again. So with no Nic, I have to walk the dogs myself, which is going to be interesting. I think they may have to put up with short walks, that or maybe I'll go to Ellenbrook instead tonight, and let 'em run, that way I don't have to walk them Thursday night, and by Friday hopefully, their standard walk won't cause deterioration of my ankle.
Finally Kresta came and fixed up the curtain rail in the front window so we can now open and close those curtains. Yay.
Nic has promised that she will get the shower sealing people to come on her next swing back, then we are going to have to repaint the flaky wall. The hallway was the only painting that I've done that I was truly happy with! Our spring project is to rip up the skanky carpet and replace with bamboo flooring. Before that happens though we need to paint the lounge room. At the rate I'm going with painting, I really need to start soon! It will be easier than the other rooms though as we decided to do it white, so not so much attention needs to be paid to the edge of the ceiling cornices.
Ride this morning was OK. I didn't push it at all but my ankle felt OK, except when pedalling uphill a couple of times. My hands seem to be getting used to the drop bars, the brake pads are starting to burn in, and the Brooks leather seat is starting to lose some of it's slipperyness - though its probably 900kms away from being truly 'worn in'. I'm going to buy a kick stand tonight for it because I don't like having to shove the back wheel into the toaster racks at work - basically the toaster racks hold on to the mudguard and not the wheel (cos the muddies are too wide and so I can't push the wheel all the way in) and I don't want my mudguard stays to get bent if someone knocks the bike over. The kickstand is also going to be useful for the ride across the nullabor, when I finally do it, because there isn't alot to lean the bike up against out there. I will probably have racked up several thousand kms on the LHT before that trip happens.
