setbacks

Rode home yesterday and got some stabbies in my ankle, mainly while trying to accelerate or ride uphill. I've decided I'll ride every second day this week, building up to every day next week... I was hoping for a long ride the weekend after next but I'm starting to suspect I won't be ready for it. I think it will probably be another 3 or 4 weeks before I can run again. This blows.

Apparently when Nic was walking the doggies last night Barbie got all excited and prancy when a jogger approached, and was bouncing up and down and wagging her tail and trying to poke him with her nose. The jogger thought it was cute. Heh. I think Barbie likes running with me. Pity she won't get to for quite a while. As for running with Bender.... it might be more like 6 weeks before I can do that just because he has a tendency to pull which means I fly further through the air, and land harder. The ankle isn't up to that yet.

This morning Sunrise was talking about the BP/Deepwater Horizon/Transocean/Gulf of Mexico oil spill. They reminded their viewers of the recent similar spill that happened in the Montana/Timor Sea. I think a lot of us had forgotten that it took two months to plug that leak. There are moves to start exploration off Margaret River before major marine parks are established. It is pure opportunism on behalf of the oil companies involved. Anyway I saw a really cool icon someone made on one of the bike forums I'm on - it was the BP logos as wheels for a bicycle and it said 'Boycott Petroleum'. Much better than just trying to boycott BP. I think I am going to steal it and boost the signal. Heh.
