A trip from Perth to Kalbarri via bicycle.... including some serious offroading.... set for some time in autumn or spring 2010.
I kind of like the idea of gravel farm roads for a day or two though... we could stay on the coast pretty much the whole time... and camp in a NP... we could even leave from Joondalup to cut out city riding :) Will flesh this out with distances later.
My plan would be:
Day 1 -
Train to Joondalup - ride Joondalup - Yanchep National Park (via Wanneroo Rd) - short first day
Day 2 -
Yanchep NP - Lancelin (Wanneroo rd - Lancelin Rd)
Day 3 - (offroad)
Lancelin - Wedge Island (subject to recon mission to explore road conditions) people sometimes do this in 2wd vehicles so I'm sure we will be fine!
Day 4 (offroad)
Wedge - Cervantes - there is a smallish dune system here
Day 5 (apaprently the hard sandy part - possibility to take wide sand tyres for the bikes :))
Cervantes - Jurien
Day 6 (back on road)
Jurien - Leeman
Day 7
Leeman - Dongara
Day 8
Rest Day
Day 9
Dongara - Gerro
Day 10
Gerro - Gregory
Day 11
Gregory - Kalbarri
