November 4th is NOT just another day
This day usually passes by with no significance what-so-ever. But every four years it becomes a day of excitement, tension, and scrutiny. After months of politics and being overwhelmed with ads, signs, and non stop media coverage, this day decides who will run our country for the next four years.
So today at work I turned the TV off of the news... No more media. No more ads. No more politics and lies and fighting.
A notional network was showing a tribute to American soldiers who have died in Iraq.
THAT is why I vote. To honor those who gave me the right to. That is way more important then listening to Obama OR McCain talk about social security, taxes, or the financial state of this country. It doesn't matter your voting preference, your opinion in the war, or even your religious views. What matters is that there are thousands of our men and women over seas that belong to our military, past and present, in world wars and desert wars, who have gone with the goal of preserving our right to go stand in a line for 6 hours to fill a few bubbles.
You owe it to them.
